The Hammond Abode seems to be at the epicentre of the Continuous Conking Out Effect when it comes to light bulbs. Our living room was illuminated by two large soft white 60w bulbs which retailed at £2.95 (or thereabouts) from John Lewis. Now thanks to the change in EU law it costs £7.95 for a new low energy equivalent... and the bloody things start off dim when you switch them on. Great. Maybe I'm cynical, but does it really cost over 100% more to manufacture these things?Rant over.
