Is Derren Brown a fake?

I really don't know about this bloke... I've watched the last two of his shows (the one where he predicted the lottery results) and last nights where he made people stick to their chairs by showing some wavy lines on the TV screen. Is he for real? Is it subliminal? My instinct is that he is just a very competent magician and it is simply all a series of very clever tricks. Oh by the way neither N or I were stuck to the sofa.

What do you reckon?

I think he's probably a fake. For one thing, I don't really *believe* in magic, and you probably have to believe that magic exists to entertain the possibility that he's for real. But if he gives a respectably entertaining show, he's worth a watch, if only to see how cleverly he performs his acts.

I am often getting this guy confused with some other Darren person who produces hypnosis therapy CDs, I actually have one of them and at the beginning it strongly urges you to never listen to it "whilst driving" which makes you wonder how intelligent he considers his target audience.

Isn't the guy you're referring to Paul McKenna?

Hi there...Actually this guy whose CD I have is named Darren Marks. I'm not sure but I think he's English. He has a whole series of hypnotherapy audio CDs, though it may be that they are pretty old, I don't know.

If he can predict the lottery genuinely, he would do it, and he wouldn't have to be a magic man.

I like the picture and the facial expression, suggestive of cleverness. If he could predict the lottery based on an audience, why did they not collate their responses and produce the lottery line, keep it, and then produce it simultaneously when the draw was made?.....I'll let you be the judge.
